Paul Alden Burt 1923-2009

Paul Alden Burt, of Osage Beach, Mo., died Monday Aug. 24, 2009, at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, Mo., at the age of 86.
Paul was born Feb. 18, 1923, in Melcher, Iowa, the oldest of 11 children born to James H. and Ola (Goode) Burt.
He married Frances Lurleen Jarboe on March 15, 1947. They were married for 50 years and had 5 children.
Paul was in the U.S. Army for 23 years, serving in both World War II and the Korean War.
After retiring from the Army, he started a second career with the Polk County, Iowa Sheriff’s Department where he served as Chief Jailer. After his retirement from the Sheriff’s Department, he and Frances moved to Lake of the Ozarks. He loved golfing, crappie fishing and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances; his grandson, Brent Jenkinson; his brother, Don Burt and his sister, Pauline Bowersox.
Paul is survived by his two daughters, Karen Jenkinson of Ankeny, Iowa; Shelley Cesar and her husband, Jerry of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; his three sons, Jim and his wife, Georgene, of Sunrise Beach, Mo., Jerry and his wife, Darla of Urbandale, Iowa and Scott of Winston Salem, N.C.; 9 grandchildren, Brad, Jared, Derek, Lindsay, Eric, Brian, Jeremiah, James and Madeline; 3 great grandchildren, Ashley, Lola and Keegan; 4 sisters, Sue Burt and Ellen Johnson of Polk City, Iowa , Donna Geisler of Ankeny, Iowa, and Barb Carlson of Montezuma, Iowa and 4 brothers, Glen, Jack and Roger all of Polk City, and Gene Burt of Ankeny, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. with burial to follow at Lincoln Cemetery. A visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association or The American Legion in loving memory of Paul.
