Kenneth Eugene Bohon 1926-2009

Kenneth Eugene Bohon, 82, passed away Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at his home in Montreal, Mo., surrounded by his family.
Kenneth was born Nov. 8, 1926, in Shelbina, Mo., the youngest of seven children born to James and Gracie (Hines) Bohon.
Kenneth grew up in the Bowling Green and Hannibal, Mo., areas, and graduated from Tilden High School in Oakwood, Mo.
He entered the U.S. Army his senior year of high school and served in Japan and Korea.
On Nov. 8, 1947, Kenneth married Etta May Jeffries of Hannibal, Mo. They lived in Louisiana, Cape Girardeau and Kirksville, Mo., before moving to Lake of the Ozarks in 1973. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1983 after 36 years.
Kenneth is a past member of the El-Kadir Shrine Club in Kirksville, Master Mason at Adair Lodge 366 in Kirksville, Life Member of Moila Temple in St. Joseph, Mo., Life Member of Pioneer Telephone Employees, Honorary Life Member Communication Workers of America, Member of VFW Post 5923 in Camdenton, Mo., and Life Member, Gold Wing Road Riders Association.
Family, home, his dog (Corky) and traveling on his Honda Gold Wing were some of the things Kenneth enjoyed most.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Etta May (Jeffries) of the home; three children, Kent Bohon and wife Jane of Edina, Mo., Mark Bohon and wife Jean of Fair Grove, Mo., and Patti Gallina and husband Byron of Sunrise Beach, Mo.; one brother, Ray Bohon and wife Lu of North Aurora, Ill.; five grandchildren, Kenton Bohon and wife Mary of Macon, Mo., Michael Bohon and wife Serenity of Kirksville, Jill Diehl and husband Colin of Blue Springs, Mo., Lisa Schuder and husband Kelly of Ozark, Mo., and Justin Bottomley of Fort Carson, Colo.; 11 great-grandchildren, Mitchel and Abigail Blue Bohon, John, Andrew and Jake Kenneth Bohon, Coltin and Brayden Diehl, Alexis, Molly and Lauren Schuder and Thomas Kenneth Bottomley; and he is Uncle “Bub” to several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, James and Gracie Mae (Hines), he was preceded in death by three sisters, Opal Harvey, Hazel Inlow and Frances Gilliland and two brothers, Darrell Bohon and Clinton Bohon.
Funeral and Masonic services will be held Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Camdenton. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10-11 a.m. prior to service time at the funeral home.
Burial with military honors will be at the Freedom Cemetery in Montreal, Mo.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or to Freedom Cemetery.
